1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CheckInBo, a Discord bot ("the Bot," "the Service," "we," "us," or "our"), as well as this website. By inviting CheckInBo to a Discord server, using any of its commands, or accessing this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use CheckInBo. If you are using CheckInBo on behalf of a Discord server or organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that server or organization to these Terms.

CheckInBo is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord Inc. Your use of Discord is also subject to Discord's Terms of Service.

2. Description of Service

CheckInBo is a Discord bot that facilitates daily check-ins for teams, groups, clubs, and communities. The Service allows members to submit daily check-ins, view participation status, and compete on public leaderboards. Server admins can configure check-in rules, set deadlines, require evidence, manage banned users, and receive automated daily summaries.

Key features of the Service include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily check-in submission and tracking per Discord channel
  • Public check-in and missed check-in leaderboards with streak tracking
  • Configurable daily deadlines and timezone settings
  • Admin controls for evidence requirements, minimum word counts, and user bans
  • Automated daily summaries posted at configured deadlines
  • Bot admin management and leaderboard reset capabilities

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes that affect core functionality.

3. Eligibility

To use CheckInBo, you must have a valid Discord account and comply with Discord's minimum age requirements (13 years of age or older, or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction).

By using CheckInBo, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements and that you will use the Service in compliance with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws and regulations.

4. User Accounts and Discord

CheckInBo operates through your existing Discord account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Discord account and for all activity that occurs through your account when interacting with CheckInBo.

Server admins who invite CheckInBo to a Discord server are responsible for configuring the bot appropriately and ensuring that its use complies with these Terms and Discord's Terms of Service. The server owner and designated bot admins have access to administrative commands that can affect all members in configured channels.

We are not responsible for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized access to your Discord account or misuse of admin commands within your server.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use CheckInBo to:

  • Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights
  • Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent check-ins
  • Upload or share content that is illegal, harmful, obscene, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
  • Share content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others
  • Attempt to circumvent bans, deadlines, or other restrictions enforced by server admins
  • Exploit bugs, glitches, or vulnerabilities in the bot for unfair advantage
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to interact with CheckInBo without authorization
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to CheckInBo's systems, databases, or infrastructure
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent
  • Collect or harvest user data from CheckInBo beyond what is publicly displayed in your server

We reserve the right to investigate violations and take appropriate action, including restricting access to the Service, removing the bot from servers, or reporting activity to Discord or law enforcement where appropriate.

6. Server Admin Responsibilities

Server admins and designated bot admins have elevated permissions within CheckInBo. By using admin commands, you agree to the following responsibilities:

  • Fair use of admin commands: Admin commands such as c.a (adding check-ins), c.d (banning users), and c.lr (resetting leaderboards) should be used fairly and in accordance with your server's rules.
  • Member notification: You should inform server members of check-in rules, deadlines, evidence requirements, and consequences for missed check-ins.
  • Appropriate configuration: You are responsible for setting reasonable deadlines, word count requirements, and other parameters appropriate for your community.
  • Data awareness: You understand that check-in data, leaderboards, and daily summaries are posted publicly within your configured channels.
  • Compliance: You are responsible for ensuring that your server's use of CheckInBo complies with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

We are not liable for disputes between server admins and members arising from the use of admin commands or server-specific configurations.

7. User Content

"User Content" refers to any text, links, images, or other materials you submit through CheckInBo commands, including check-in messages and evidence attachments.

By submitting User Content, you:

  • Retain ownership of your User Content
  • Grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service (e.g., posting daily summaries and maintaining leaderboards)
  • Represent that you have the right to submit the content and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws

We do not actively monitor User Content but reserve the right to remove or restrict access to content that violates these Terms. Server admins may also manage member participation through ban commands.

8. Intellectual Property

CheckInBo, including its name, logo, code, design, and documentation, is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right, title, or interest in CheckInBo except for the limited right to use the Service as described herein.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of CheckInBo or its underlying technology without our prior written permission.

Discord and its logos are trademarks of Discord Inc. All other trademarks referenced on this website are the property of their respective owners.

9. Service Availability

We strive to keep CheckInBo available and functioning reliably. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access to the Service. CheckInBo may be temporarily unavailable due to:

  • Scheduled or emergency maintenance
  • Discord API outages or changes
  • Technical failures or infrastructure issues
  • Events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure)

We are not responsible for missed check-ins, incorrect leaderboard data, or failed daily summaries resulting from Service downtime, Discord outages, or user error. Server admins may use admin commands to manually adjust data where appropriate.

10. Termination

You may stop using CheckInBo at any time by removing the bot from your Discord server. Removing the bot will result in deletion of server-specific data as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access to CheckInBo, with or without notice, if:

  • You violate these Terms or our Privacy Policy
  • Your use of the Service poses a security risk or legal liability
  • We are required to do so by law or by Discord
  • We discontinue the Service entirely

Upon termination, your right to use CheckInBo ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will continue to apply.

11. Disclaimers

CHECKINBO IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT
  • WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE
  • WARRANTIES REGARDING THE ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF CHECK-IN DATA, LEADERBOARDS, OR SUMMARIES

CheckInBo is a facilitation tool. We do not guarantee that use of the bot will result in improved team performance, consistency, or goal achievement. The bot is not intended for use in medical, legal, or other professional contexts where failure could result in harm. Server admins who use CheckInBo for health tracking or similar purposes do so at their own discretion and risk.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL CHECKINBO, ITS OPERATORS, DEVELOPERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF GOODWILL, OR SERVICE INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE CHECKINBO, REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100.00) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, WHICHEVER IS GREATER. CHECKINBO IS CURRENTLY PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE.

SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES. IN SUCH JURISDICTIONS, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CheckInBo, its operators, developers, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use of CheckInBo or violation of these Terms
  • Your User Content submitted through the Service
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including Discord's Terms of Service
  • Disputes between you and other users or server admins related to CheckInBo

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through informal negotiation by contacting us at the email address below. If informal resolution is not successful within 30 days, either party may pursue resolution through binding arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also provide notice through the bot or this website.

Your continued use of CheckInBo after changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and remove the bot from your server.
